Cachaça Cocktails

15 drinks · Updated October 2026

Cachaça is a Brazilian spirit distilled from fermented fresh sugarcane juice. Unlike most rum, which is made from molasses, cachaça starts with the juice itself, although some rum traditions also use fresh cane juice. Producers use pot or column stills, and bottles may be unaged or matured in wood, including various Brazilian woods. In cocktails, cachaça contributes grassy and fruity cane character that works with citrus and sugar. The Caipirinha combines it with muddled lime and sugar. The Rabo de Galo pairs cachaça with vermouth, while the Batida Rosa belongs to Brazil’s broader tradition of mixed cachaça drinks.
