Japanese Whisky Cocktails
9 drinks · Updated October 2026
Japanese whisky developed through the adaptation of Scottish whisky-making methods in Japan. Producers make malt and grain whiskies, and blending is an important part of the tradition. Malted barley, still design, fermentation and cask selection all influence the result; Japanese whisky is not a single flavor style. In cocktails, it supplies grain and barrel character, with soda serving as a common partner rather than a sweet mixer. The Bar Goto Highball and Nashi Highball are listed here alongside the Lusty Nail. These recipes put Japanese whisky into highballs and other mixed drinks without requiring a single regional flavor profile.
